Yahoo! has announced that they will unveil a video upload and sharing service in the next few days that will compete with the likes of YouTube and AOL UnCut Video.  Early reviews indicate that the site is well designed and with the incredible reach of Yahoo! it is sure to be a popular site.  Click on these links for previous posts on YouTube and UnCut Video.

Yahoo video will not initially be integrated with Flickr, the photo sharing service recently purchased by Yahoo!. To me this makes sense.  I think the concepts of sharing video and photographs are different enough that they deserve there own separate approaches.

YouTube was one of the first video upload and sharing services and early adopters and tech savvy users flocked to the site.   Now that the idea has proven itself, the big players (Yahoo! and AOL amongst others) are moving in.   It will be difficult for the smaller players to compete with the very deep pockets and huge customer bases of the big competitors.  This will force a lot of innovation in the video sharing space which in the end will be good for all of us.
