TMZ is a blog style celebrity site owned by America Online. There is not too much remarkable to recommend it, but it is leveraging the use of video on a topic well fitted to the use of moving pictures. If the public’s appetite for celebrity photo’s is any indication, then celebrity video on the web will most likely be a big hit. The site has been off to a slow start, but the Alexa traffic graph below shows a recent spike in popularity.
The lack of a community feel beyond simple comment lists does not set it apart from a lot of other sites trying to do the same thing. They do have the celebrity dirt, but no real way to make it come alive in a unique way for users.
