NBC and YouTube are teaming up to deliver TV shows on the Web. YouTube will create an official NBC channel to show clips from shows like “The Office”. NBC came in last place in ratings of the big four U.S. networks for the season that has just ended, so they are looking for ways to increase awareness of their lineup for next season. The partnership intends to add “Saturday Night Live” and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” in the next several months.
Since May of 2005, when ABC began offering several of it’s shows (”Desperate Housewives” and “Lost”) the race has been on for the networks to embrace the Internet, and more importantly to figure out how to make money through this new distribution channel.
