MySpace, recently purchased by NewsCorp, is offering free steaming Fox primetime TV shows. The series on offer include “Bones,” “Prison Break,” “Standoff,” “Vanished,” “Talk Show With Spike Feresten,” “’Til Death,” “The Loop” and “Justice,” among others. The new service, called FOX on Demand, requires the Fox Full Throttle Player to view the video which Fox claims will be in high-definition, but most are skeptical, as that would be quite a technical acheivement and require tremendous bandwidth. These video streams will be ad-supported and free to the customer. Download the player and watch
here.
Fox will also be offering this service to its local affiliates in 24 markets across the U.S.
The young tech savvy users at MySpace are the most likely demographic to watch video on their computers, and with MySpace’s huge reach, the Internet could someday prove to be a very strong video distribution channel for Rupert Murdoch’s media giant.
