Coupons on the web is old school. A new entrant in the web coupons space, Zixxo, aims to add a little Web 2.0 to mix by opening its database to allow others to create mashups with coupons and their own applications and sites.

The overall concept of Zixxo is straight forward. Businesses go online and post their offerings, then users go online and find the offers they want. Users can print the coupons and hit the stores. The service is free to businesses and users now, but Zixxo intends to begin charging businesses for delivery of the coupons.

Zixxo joins an already crowded market including Cellfire, Zimini, CoolSavings, Coupon Surfer, and many others. By leveraging its open database and providing a friendlier place for small businesses to put their coupons online, Zixxo is hoping to stand out.

The big challenge for Zixxo will be to build a big enough inventory of offers to draw shoppers already using competing services.

I have never been a big coupon user myself. Do you clip coupons? If so, do you clip them from magazines and newspapers or use online services?
