NBC Universal, a unit of General Electric, is developing a stable of sites leveraging content from it’s TV networks and film studios. I previous reviewed OutZoneTV, a video site aimed at gay men. All of NBC Universal’s niche sites are cookie cutter operations right now. They use the exact same web design and offer the same functionality. I assume this was done to quickly and inexpensively get something on the market, not to be left behind in the burgeoning video on the Internet space.
BrilliantButCancelled is another NBC Universal site that airs the TV shows that did not make it to big time TV, or were cancelled. They say that this is the good stuff that got cancelled, but considering the general state of the quality of programming on TV, it is hard to believe that there is that much brilliant stuff around.
BrillianButCancelled offers clips, previews, and some full-length content. Their current offerings include: The Jake Effect, EZ Streets, Johny Staccato, Gideon Oliver, Face to Face, Touching Evil, and Delvecchio. This looks likes just the beginning with NBC Universal adding additional content in the future.
It appears that many of the selections are only available to viewers in the United States due to licensing agreements that NBC Universal has made outside the U.S.
