07. Feb 2007 Comments 5 comments

OpenFlix is a great site devoted to providing pointers to movies and video that is presumed to be in the public domain.  The site is easy to navigate, has minimal advertising, and delivers on its promise to direct movie lovers to public domain video.

Movies can be browsed by genre including: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Documentary, Drama, Film Noir, Horror, Independent, Musical, Romance, Sci-fi & Fantasy, and Western

This is a great alternative to paid movie downloads and pirated movies, especially if you are into older movies.

Here is their introduction:

“OpenFlix provides a directory of movies commonly thought to be in the public domain and works their owners are willing to let be distributed. Public Domain refers to the body of creative works and …

Clip Roller Video Search for Metacafe, YouTube, Google and More

ClipRoller is a new video search site founded by CliPro that searches across a number of video sharing sites including YouTube, Metacafe, Brightcove, iFilm, Revver, Vdiddy and others.

The clips are not hosted by ClipRoller but rather played on the site using the embedded code from the video clip source site.

Clip roller provides RSS fees, the ability to post clips to Facebook, Digg, and other sites, and a favorite video feature.

There is a lot of competition in this space (including Dabble and PureVideo).  The barriers to entry are quite low to search and collect videos from different sites and embed them.   The real key is building additional social features that give drive additional traffic and create stickiness to …

Hollywood Up Close to Offer Celebrity Videos

05. Feb 2007 Comments 0 comments

The owners of StupidVideos, PureVideo and GrindTV, today launched a new site called HollywoodUpClose.   PureVideo is responding to the fact that more than one third of the queries to their site are for celebrity video, so they decided to create a site devoted to celebrities.

HollywoodUpClose will aggregate movie trailers, interviews, and red carpet video from sites like Yahoo Video and YouTube.  It will also add news from Topix and photos from new sites.

Web users can’t get enough celebrity scoop, so I imagine that this site will be wildly popular!

iTunes is offering Super Bowl fans who may have missed the the game or want to relive some of the best moments, video highlights of football’s biggest game of the year.

90 minutes of highlights will be available for $1.99 per clip.   The clips of the Bears vs. Colts are available in English and Spanish.

Video highlights from the NFL’s regular-season and playoff games have been available from the iTunes Store since September.

I believe that this will be a North America only offering.

Jurassic Park 4 Script Leaked onto BitTorrent

04. Feb 2007 Comments 2 comments

The script of the 4th sequel to Jurassic Park has been leaked onto BitTorrent.  The title of the script is “Dawn of Extinction: Jurassic Park”.

At one time, Jurassic Park was the highest grossing film of all time.

Torrent Freak reports that the script was uploaded to a semiprivate BitTorrent tracker by a user named “xbadwolfx” in the last week in January.  xbadwolfx claims that he has friends in the company and that the script is an original.

The scoop is here at Torrent Freak.

Update:  I just took a look at the story again, and it appears that the script was a fake.

Let’s Misbehave - 1928 - Exceptionally Good Amatuer Music Video

I usually don’t post individual videos here, but I ran across this great rendition of Cole Porter’s song “Let’s Misbehave”.  Ysabellabrave sings her version in this video.   She has amazing vocal range and gives a sweet, serious, sultry performance.  Even if this is not your kind of music, it is impossible to watch this video just once.

Ysabellabrave also has her own web site with all of her online performances.
